If you're just getting your arches rolled you won't need bigger spacers as it won't look any different from the outside. Just give the wheel more clearance inside by folding the flange back against the inner wing.

If your getting them pulled aswell then you might need bigger spacers to keep the amount of poke

I hope that's right, that's how I understand it anyway! Haha

Yeah sounds like you're talking about flaring Anthony. I'll just be getting the arch lips inside rolled back. Then it'll be time to decide whether to space them out a bit more lol.

Not been on here for a while, my Beetle obsession has grown and grown, so it's looking like the Lupo's days are numbered, even though I do still love it, but I can't have both.

A while back now I offered someone a straight swap for his green '58 Australian import...

It was a pretty tough decision to offer up the swap, technically I'd have been swapping my car for one that's a lot worse in every department due to it's age Laughing . I was a bit surprised when the seller said he was interested, but in the end he pulled out as he wanted the money from the sale. A while after this, armed with a bit more knowledge, I realised that it actually doesn't have any heating, so it might not be such a bad thing that I never swapped for it seeing as it would be my daily driver, with winter looming!

Since then there's been a few others I've registered my interest with. This one:

It had a couple of minor problems, and no MOT. The seller wasn't willing to MOT it even with me offering cash on top of what he was asking for the car, so it never happened.

Then there was this:

I went to view this and had a little test drive whilst I was there. It was the first time I'd ever driven one and was worried it might have put me off them, but, despite the scary brakes (drums all round!), it didn't put me off, it was interesting shall we say, and I think ultimately the charm won me over! In the end I decided to walk away though, the paintwork put me off as it hadn't been sprayed professionally which showed in places up close, and people always say you shouldn't buy the first one you see, which this was!

The search continues...

Thanks shaker, really appreciate that!

It's just one of those things, the Lupo is the best car I've owned, I'm always tempted by other cars anyway, can't help it, but until recently I was content with the Lupo and all things considered I couldn't see a better alternative so I was happy to keep it and continue improving it, I've got a lot of enjoyment out of it. Then at some point I got hooked on aircooled VW's and I can't get them out of my head now!

Ross this is a big decision! once there in your wallet you'll never get them out... What ever you decide it will be a stunner, even the TT in it's short lived reign was looked after.

Cheers Dillon! It is a big decision, but I've been thinking about it a lot, I guess if I regret it and find that it's not for me then I can just sell it on. It's all a bit of an unknown really, I've been reading up loads but I won't truly know what it's like until I have my own obviously.

Cost wise I'm hoping it won't be too bad but who knows. Insurance should be mega cheap and they're tax free Smile . They do need regular servicing and I'd definitely look to keep on top of things in that respect and just hope it repays me in being reliable!

Howey, why? Razz . I appreciate not everyone likes them or sees the attraction, but I think I just want something really different, with plenty of character and charm.

Im sure Ghengis Khan had plenty of character too! Razz Laughing

Im my mind it just seems madness to run it as a daily, as a novelty/ weekend car maybe.
