Hi guys,
Few of you may know that I'm going down the GTI6 route as a conversion for my GTI 138.
Anyway, the car is stripped ready for the conversion but was looking for anybody that has done this conversion before? I'm ready to purchase all the parts I need but was hoping that somebody who done this before to give me a full list of what was needed and any problems they came across?
I've had a good search around the forum and found people talking about others that have done it but no project threads.
Cheers!

Bonson did it but he doesn't reside here now. Don't think anyone currently on here has.

Just don't see the point in fitting the GTi-6 engine which is heavy and the EW10 has plenty of potential in it....

Yes thats true but I have a shell sat here with no engine. I have to buy an engine whatever happens so my options are:
Replacement 138bhp lump - £250 - £350?
GTI6 lump - same price but with a bit more power and not a huge job (from what I gather) and at the end of the day would have a car thats a bit different.
180 Engine - Pain in the a** from what I gather due to my car being preplexed and all 180's being multi.
So out of those options I'd say the GTI6 is probably the better option for me.
Not aiming for big bhp, just something a bit different.

EFA
XU10 is getting old now and it's likely a lot of them will have seen a hard life. You would be better getting a low-mileage 138 lump or fitting a 180 lump and running it on standalone management.

Add in the fact that a lot of mechanical parts for the XU engine's are no longer stocked by Peugeot / Citroen either.
Best place for the GTI 6 lump's is in a 306 or ZX where it belongs.

It's not the engine that causes the problem...it's the gearbox which doesn't have to be used.

Hi mate,
If your willing to remove the parts then I'm happy to give you the £400 for it. It's just that Durham is a bit of a treck for me, would I be able to arrange my own courier?
Cheers

If your gonna drop the 180 engine in, easiest thing is to rip the entire preplex wiring loom out of yours and get the 180's multiplex loom from shell's along with the engine, ecu bsi, transponder chip & ariel etc
