Starter. Put the key in and cranked it repeatedly, water shot out of the spark plug holes. Kept cranking until none was coming out. Then put in some used but ok plugs I picked from a mate, stuck the new filter in and the car started on the 3rd or 4th try.....sputtered a bit, then ran not too badly, revved it and let it idle intermittently for about 5-10 min then turned it off and stuck in the new plugs. Started on the first kick, good as new. WHOOP WHOOP.
All this was last night been running as normal all day today.....f*****g ecstatic no engine damage thanks heaps guys....you really should charge for your advice LOL

i've done this a couple of times and its not as good as it sounds, the chances is that the con rod is bent slightly and after a few miles maybe a 100 or two miles it'll snap, and poof goes the engine, if i was you i'd get rid of it before it blows up.

the first signs i seen on the two i have done was it useing more fuel and slightly less power, think it was about 2 months before it went on the 406 and about 2 days on the escort van, and both sounded lovely after i got them going, i was gutted twice. never again.

had a similiar situation myself, dried the engine out got it running again but it was beyond repair just hope for the best

I drove through a very deep ford once. The wave came to the bottom of my windscreen. It cut out on the way out but started after a while. Changed the plugs and filter and it was fine for a week apart from a slight knocking noise when cold. It threw a rod a week later. two massive holes ether side of one cylinder. When I got the engine out the sump was full of water too.

a con rod or Connecting rod is the rod that links your piston head to the crankshaft

did you post the pic on info before?

i do remember someone did something similar before....think is a 1.1 and it drove through a pond and cut out, engine blown after a month or so Laughing

i picked some posh dude up that drove his mini one through a ford, got stuck then tried cranking it over in the middle. that had locked, and there was a puddle of oil underneath...

as it was his own fault i even threw the winch cable in so he could attatch it himself, i dont get paid enough to get wet Smile

In a ford E5GDM. As in a shallow river that runs across a road. although it was not very shallow at the time.

I've noticed the air filter hose goes under the car and up the inner wing.

Sucking up water will destroy your engine as it can't be compressed and the engine has hydauliced.....piston tries to squash the water but it can't and it then finds a weak link.....usually the rod bends or it is thrown out thro the side of the block.

A neigbour drove his V12 Aston thro a flooded bit of road.......AA picked him up and I noticed his car on an auction site sometime later as a write -off because of the engine damage

I feel the air filter hose is a poor design as it is so low down
