Hi there,

I have a 2002 Peugeot 206 GLX 1.6. It was my stepdads car before mine and he said that it made a loud squealing noise when he first got the car and then stopped. Ever since then there has been no heat or air con at all. It is an automatic climate control panel. I have already looked at the blower fan and all seems ok. I am having trouble finding the resistor though, I was following an online guide and the resistor is not where it should be, maybe because its a GLX model?? The online guide was for a 206 XR model. There is absolutely no noise coming from the engine or any part of the car when I turn the climate panel on or off, the only noise I have found is from the drivers side fuse box when the climate panel is turned on or off. Basically long story short, does anybody have any ideas what the issue could be or have any reasons why it could be doing this? I don't really want to take the car to a garage and pay through the roof just for them to "investigate" the problem.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Thanks!

1st thing to do would be to check the air con has any gas in the system, and probably re-gas it and/or investigate a leak if any. It does gradually seep out and is a service item to check it/top it up regularly. Low pressure in the air con fluid system will prevent the compressor clutch engaging. Not sure whether this would prevent the fan running properly either though.

Do any of you guys know why my fan only works on setting 4 (full blast)

Ive got the glove box open, but cant for the life of me get the fan blower off to have a look at it (is the resistor also in there somewhere?)

I heard that one person just sprayed wd40 in the blower vents and solved it, (although i dont want a car stinking of the stuff!) so i would rather replace the resistor.

Thanks
