has anyone ever done a quick fix on one of these? I have a small split in one and was told I could do a temporary fix on it using superglue or even a heated spoon to melt it closed, I managed to pack it up with grease at the weekend and superglued it shut but i dont think it's worked

also currently in the process of sellin the car and have said this is one of the problems with it at the moment just wanted a quick fix for the moment or until it's sold

Just go buy a new one and change it yourself. Parts like that really arent worth trying to find a cheap fix on. Could mean a bigger bill in if your lucky a few months time, maby a few weeks or if your really unlucky a few days. If you loose enough grease on such a high speed part. Could see a snapped cvjoint or driveshaft.

What happens if it runs out of grease and it snaps as the new buyer drives off?

www.eurocarparts.com/cv-boot-kits

Not even 20 quid for a decent one. Be a cheap skate and buy the £8 one not much more than what your gonna pay for super glue. Take an hour and you know the jobs done properly.

that's fair enough and I have made it clear that this is a problem needin fixed amongst other things, the car is goin at a low price so if the buyer knows what is wrong and still wants to pay knowing this is a problem then that's his choice, might sound a bit of a d**k sayin that but I have made it clear from the start that it needs replaced
