Just come home from work and almost straight away the car started tapping quite loudly but only under acceleration. It drove normal but there was some white smoke coming out of the back when accelerating as well.

I got out and checked the oil which was find then just as I was nearly home the noise stopped and the car is working as normal. I have restarted it since and it is still normal.

Any ideas what the problem could have/could be?
