Its also very cold atm, so the car will be adding extra fuel to compensate for the cold air!!

Mine averages ~35 driving 'with traffic' on B roads. It drops off a fair amount when im doing motorway speeds probably because its pretty short geared.
This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!

But you get more power so I don't care. Every little helps when you only have a little to start with Very Happy

Round the track my GTi averaged 16mpg.
I once had 40mpg traveling at 40mph for 20 miles with very low RPM and steady gear changes.

As others have said circa 30mpg is normal for day to day driving.

Doesnt sound "normal" if your driving like a saint. My 2001 GTi was very good on fuel, seemed to just sip fuel, 280 miles on a half tank was my best (sat at 70mph on motorway) even though I was going on holiday so a lot of extra weight in the car which wont have helped.

I have been averaging 34-38 mpg over 120 miles in my 180, that was driving like a saint, changing gear at no more than 3000 rpm and block shifting from 3rd gear to 5th a lot, with a couple of blasts up to 100 on a section of dual carrigeway with 6 roundabouts in between.

Used to get 27-29mpg average when I first got it, but price of fuel has slowed me down a lot.

Unbolt fuel rail.

Have a friend turn key to position 2 and check injectors.

irregardless of what you do on them backroads are a killer for fuel economy

i drive on one quite a bit in my diesel and it decimates my MPG

you 180 might ahve gotten that but thats cause it was a 120mile stint on the motorway. I bet the gti wouldn't be far off the same MPG in the same circumstance
