So as with most problems has been progressing, where it is now my steering wheel is notably harder than before, and groans as I turn it. Fluid level is fine. When wheel is well turned, e.g. when cornering as pulling out of a parking space, I can hear the passenger side wheel slipping, nearside ok. Over an uneven surface there is a lot of play when moving moderately fast - 60kph and above, have to correct it repeatedly, doesnt feel very steady or safe. Can't take it much over 80kph because of this....
Any ideas?

i had the same problem a couple of years back. steering kept getting heavy intermittently and topping up the fluid it kept going down again quickly, ended up getting stuck in the works carpark for ages as it wouldn';t turn. garage said the steering rack needed replacing, fluid leaking into the gaitors, and they thought someone who had it before may have put wrong oil in which ate through the seals.
driveshafts neede replacing few months ago - car was creaking and knocking really bad, getting worse when turning, and feeling like it was going to roll over.
