Hi guys, I'm new at this forum, and I registered to see what you guys think about my problem.

Anyway, I own 1.4i 75hp 206, produced in 2006.
Problem is, when I start the car, I hit the gas pedal and instead of making revs go higher, engine first makes them lower! So it goes like this: I start the engine, wait for a few seconds, then just for a brief moment I hit the gas and release it, and revs first go down (for, say, 150rpm) and THEN go up without problem. In some cases, if I hit the gas for too long, engine goes off! (when engine's cold)

Besides that, engine's responding too late in casual driving.. It's like it is hesitating.

My regular garage-man told me that perhaps it could be lambda sensor... Other than that, he has no clue. (no problems found on diagnostics whatsoever).
And I have found out that cleaning of stepper motor, throttle body and MAP sensor may help !!?? And maybe, ECU update..?

So, what do you guys think of it ?

Thanks

Does your engine have an electric throttle body? If so, you will not have a idle control valve

I'm not quite sure what makes throttle body electric, but I have "drive by wire" if that's what you mean...

Then you have an electronic throttle body Wink

Yes Lee, I've seen what you did here www.206info.co.uk/Foru...39062.html .
But can it be that simple? And what's the real cause of the problem?

Thanks

A mate of mine had a Clio with a similar issue. It had an electronic throttle and would only rev down until it stalled. Cable all the way.

Nothing wrong with fly by wire throttles if the software is written correctly.

Chances are cable is not going to fail though and its more responsive from what I have heard. Also its harder to identify a noise when you can't adjust the throttle from the engine bay.

So, the bottom line is ECU update...? But cleaning other things I mentioned would do no harm ? Very Happy
