Coolant temp sensor is a known failure point on the TU engines.

You should be able to check when the thermostat opens as the temp dial gets to just under 90 deg C, the top radiator hose should get hot as the coolant starts to pass through to flow in to the rad.

Where did the new thermostat come from?

Genuine Peugeot / Citroen thermostat just under £10, fitted it last week on my TU3 Very Happy

Search for a post I made, I listed the ohms reading that the ECT should give out at different temps.

Also listed the voltage for the pin out of the ECU I think.

I am right it is the green connector on the top of the head, right hand side as you look at it.
