The 1.4 HDi has been off the road since last May .. now I need to get it back running so my son can practice before his test, I need to do a few things to it.
One is the EGR Valve. It's been throwing up an error far a while, and it's a EGR Malfunction. It was also down a bit on power just before we stopped using it which make me think it might be clogged now.
Should it take it off and try to clean it or just replace it? (They are about £50).
This one is on the back of the engine so not too bad to get to. I'll need to replace the 'o' rings I guess.
Anyone else changed this and have any hints or a how-to? Otherwise I'll use the trusty Haynes.
(The other jobs are a full oil change, two new front tyres, a new battery and an MOT by the end of Feb .. oh and a good clean!).

Its not in the hayne manual, can you not block them off like on the dw10 engines?
You dont need them any how as ive blocked mine off for over a year now and still is fine, also people report of faster turbo spooling once de-egr is done

I'll check the Haynes tomorrow ut I've a feeling it will be or I wouldn't have known about the "o" rings ... (remember there are two 206 Haynes manuals ... 1.4 HDi is in later one).
As the car is for a 17-year old eventually, it has to be (a) reliable and (b) not modded. So the EGR stays ...
So back to my original questions? Clean it or replace it??? And has anyone cleaned one?
