The handbrake light has started coming on while driving, it flickers on and off and stays on permanent when going up hill?

handbrake cables need adjusting?

Switch is under the handbrake lever.

Is the STOP warning light on as well at the same time?

If there BOTH coming on together, check the brake fluid level.

Every Peugeot i've owned the STOP always come on with the low brake fluid warning light.

We need someone with a non plexed 206 to test it.

Start it up, make sure it's not gonna roll away, release handbrake & then press the test button on the reservoir to see what warning lights come on.

If you tell me what you need to do to test, then I can go and do it now. Wink

Actually.. I had to brake pretty hard the other day, the handbrake light flickered on/off a few times, but not fully illuminated. Just dimly.

Just checked and The brake fluid level is fine.

My 1st thought was hand brake cable as the hand brake is quite high.

Brake pads or discs worn at all?

Dunno?

I did something I don't normally do and looked in the hand book oo er Confused

It says the light is for low brake fluid or hand brake.

I topped up the fluid anyway as it was at the half way point.

If it doesn't cure it Ill get my brakes looked at and hand brake cable tightened.

It was just the fluid level warning,

Nice to see these things still work after all these years Smile

Just the brake fluid? Something has caused it to be a t a low level. Brake fluid doesn't evaporate, so I'd be taking the wheels off and checking the pads and the shoes for excessive wear, and checking the hydraulic system for signs of leaking. If the pads and shoes are OK and there is no sign of a leak, then it's probably just down to poor maintenance.

Never trust the sensors 100%. Always worth doing your weekly checks rather than waiting for a bulb on the dash to tell you that there is a problem.
