Probably half a dozen vehicles will arrive tomorrow in my local garage but lucky my next door neighbour works for Peugeot motors and noticed me trying to get the car started and he diagnosed it with the message "permeneant ECU cyclinder fault" or around those lines and he believes this is cambelt needs replacing.

TU engine how I missed you.. can probably say the best and less problematic Peugeot engine. £200 I was quoted to replace cambelt is this good price (for 180)? He's giving me up to a month to pay after repair so am grateful to know I will on the roads again sooner rather than later. Very Happy

I don't think the cambelt was ever changed and it's done 84k, it would need to be replaced at some point anyway around this mileage?

The 306 GTI 6 engine also used to be a well known cambelt snapper, smart owners would change them every 27k miles / every 3rd service.

I would much prefer a timing chain instead of a belt.

The last time it was driven, 10 minutes away the engine made a continuous clunk noise, thought it may of been the snow, so I stopped and it came from the engine so luckily I managed to get it home then after it would never start.
