I got 2 keys when i bought 2nd hand SW 1.4 Entice. Keys worked fine til battery went flat - now PLIP key (2 button) will turn engine over but won't start it. Non Plip key works fine. PLIP key doea open doors though! Anyone got an idea why PLIP key should stop working?

Car battery went flat - not fob battery! Sorry to be unclear!

Maybe try disconnecting the battery leave it for Afew mins then reconnect. Sounds like the bsi has got confused.

If that don't work then it will just need re coding into your car.

When the battery was changed did the immobiliser chip fall out of the key. Little black box inside. Sounds like its missing to me.

Edit - I'm assuming off course you are talking about the key battery.

Ah I thought you meant car battery, but now after re reading it Im guessing you do mean the fob battery.

So as above make sure you haven't lost anything out of it.

Big Thanx to those who have replied - I looked at article on re-setting but my 2 button PLIP has no LED - just a large almost rectangular lock and a small circular opon key. Will same procedure work? Wary of trying unless someone can give a yes or no!

Immo chip missing or misplaced inside the keyfob.

It is a totaly sepparate tiny module from the remote electronics and has no battery.

It's easy to lose the chip as it just looks like a piece of plastic. A lot of people don't realise it is there when they swap key cases and then threads like this appear, you seem to have managed to do it without swapping cases.
Have a look at this thread and check to make sure the chip is still there. If you have lost it Lee is your best bet. Cheapest person around for them. (Lee, can I go on commission please?)

Another vote for a lost chip. I lost mine changing cases because I didn't know it was in there and needed moving to the new case. Changed the case on the key on Tuesday. Didn't need to start the car until Thursday. Guess what day binday was? A clue it begins with a W...
