My glovebox won't open anymore - wondering if the mechanism in the handle is buggered. Is there an easy way of popping it open without causing any damage?

Where the hinges meet the dashboard, there are screws and plate clips, check and see if the heads are visible, if they are, undo them and Robert is your mother's brother.
If not, then you need to remove the latch assembly

I thought the screws were on the inside? The box is stuck SHUT at the moment

They are but sometimes the screws were put in the other way (or a previous owner has done it?)
Yes I guessed that it is stuck shut, hence why I said you'll have to remove the whole assembly if you can't get to the screws.
Is it locked and the key won't disengage it or is it just that the latch won't move?

As its not locked, try and slide a small flat head screw driver between the top of the lid and the dash and see if you can push the retaining latch out of the locking recess.

Rip off the fabric cover and you should be able to see the mech.
Then just glue it back on after.

When I accedentally locked another members glove box and they didnt have the right key, I got it open by putting a flat head screw driver in the gap between the lid and the dash and pried the latch out as the dash plastic is quite soft compared to a screwdriver lol. It came out all in one peice, so you can then remove the lid to see if you can fix it or replace it with another one.

No worries, I had this problem on my mrs car, WD40 on the latch and it was fine

Put it in near the latch and move it around a bit. You might be able to bend the plastic enough so that it just pops open, failing that it will open and you will just need to sort a new front out from a scrappies

Tbh, if you are willing to use a crow bar and risk bending the plastic then you may as well rip it off. A clean break will do less damage and will be easier to fix back on. A crow bar will just bend the plastic so it's will be slightly out of shape.

206 glovebox door is pretty secure if you compare it to the crap 405 or 406 design
Can you get at the screws that hold the door clips on?
You might be able to loosen them with some mole grips from behind the dash to give the door enough play to then open.
