Hello pepes
52 plate 1.4i 8v petrol automatic
Hope someone can help here, recently had the coil pack replaced and the problem I have is with the ignition HT coil connector. this has maybe 4 wires on it (I would have to check) but connects to the coil pack and runs to the right hand side of the rocker cover at the back of the head in a thin corrugated tubing. Inside this tubing there is on my car a black wire that has been soldered onto another wire and has what looks like a sensor box about 2cm x 2cm x 1cm, maybe a resistor of some sort? Anyway it has broken off of something and I can see metal inside the platic moulded outer casing. The length of the cable suggests it can't go far, does anyone have any idea what it is for and where its meant to go? I have been having problems with the oil level display being very eratic showing anything from no oil to full of oil and was wondering maybe it could be for this but to be honest I don't have a clue. I would love to know what it's for as it's doing my head in and my mechanic said its just a resistor and has ran it down the back of the cylinder head just sitting loose which I'm not happy with as the internal metal is open to the elements so will be giving a false reading no matter what it's for. Help!!!! please put me out my misery....

Just to add to this the sensor box comes out of the corrugated tubing at the right hand end of the coil pack where the tubing clips onto the top of the coil pack itself.
Cheers

Thats the coil pack wiring mod
Peugeot / Citroen part number 6555 K9 Condensor £5.29
Splice the wire in to pin 4 of the coil pack connector plug & the other end goes to engine earth.
As for the oil level display after checking the sensor green connector plug is clean / in good condition then its most likely a buggy BSI software version your car is running, Peugeot main dealer & get the BSI software updated if it really bothers you.

Well it's a static noise suppressor for anything that is affected by static noise but it's hardly an urgent requirement for someone suffering from ignition problems or who thinks that it's a "sensor" of some kind

God you lot make me laugh, BSI why couldn't you have just said what it does and that it ain't really necessary and Deckchair I never mentioned anything about ignition problems, I just got it changed for the sake of it, nothing else. It must be great to know everything about everything MrBSI seems to know more than most from what I can make out from the questions I've asked in the past where you deckchair don't know as much as him cause you only knew it was to stop noise on your stereo but BSI knows 2 things it does. Well I didn't have a clue what it did, where it went or what the f**k it did and thats why I asked in the first place. It was never like this in the VW forums, wish I had hung onto my Golf. And BSI thanks for letting me know the part number and the cost it was very helpful, the part should be behind my front door by early next week, I don't do shops if I can avoid them....
