OK, so I've read all of the horror stories about what can go wrong during a cambelt change if everything hasn't been locked properly with the correct tools and I'm getting a bit worried about where I get it done! Confused

I'm just wondering how likely it is that a decent garage will be capable of this job or whether I am best looking for a specialist with the correct locking tools and experience with changing the belts on this engine? If I'm best taking it to a specialist or someone who knows there stuff does anybody have any suggestions around the North West, preferably Bolton/Manchester but willing to travel for a decent reputation?

Any opinions or recommendations appreciated Cool

Any garage with fully trained mechanics will be able to do the job, if it's done wrongly you should be able to get the garage to fix it

As above if you go to a reputable garage and not a backstreet job, If anything went wrong in relation to the cambelt I'm sure they will sort it out free of charge

I have had mine done at a french specialist garage, only works on Citroen and Peugeot vehicles so you could get a cheaper offer as they know the best way round any mechanical work.

They need the correct locking tools as well Wink

Over the years on here people have tried before without the correct locking tools & at best you end up with a 206 that runs rough & at worse bent valves Thumbs Up

A fully trained mechanic will know to use correct tools, unless you go to a backstreet garage

I work in a very small independent garage specialising in fiat and we did my gti 180 just before Christmas without the correct locking tools as long as your careful it's nothing incredibly difficult I'd say most garages will be able to do it

Thanks for the opinions so far. It's not that I'm worried about taking it somewhere that won't correct any mistakes it's more I would prefer not to have to worry in the first place as I need my car daily and would prefer piece of mind rather than listening out for noises and being paranoid! Shocked

It doesn't help that I've seen stories of "reputable" garages giving it a go on RS clios and making a right mess of it and the procedure for avoiding it sounds similar with these engines!

Thanks for the recommendation Nick, will bare them in mind if I can't find anybody else that inspires my confidence!
