Just parked my car today and when I pulled the handbrake up there was a loud click and now it rides far too high (almost vertical before it will click). I'm sure these are self adjusting but is there any other way to fix this or just leave it for a while?

It needs adjusting manually. Although sounds more like you have snapped the handbrake cable.

Remove the cover behind the hanndbrake. (Sit in the rear, open the flap, remove the screw and pull out.
Using a 13mm spanner tighten the nut, you can see. (Although there are four. It's obv. which one you need to tighten).
Check to see if that's any different.

Well luckily my local 'trusted' garage can get a new cable for £15 and will charge £15 fitting so £30 all in. I think that's just for the one side though. I'd get the 2 done but i'm looking to get a new car soon so isn't worth my while. Thanks
