I have a Peugeot 206 Roland Garros 1.6 Auto. We have two cars so this one is only doing short journeys at the moment so planning to trickle charge the battery periodically to keep it topped up.
Do I need to disconnect the battery every time I charge it? I have one of those ctek chargers which can pulse charge. Read somewhere on the web that I wouldn't need to disconnect but just wanted to be sure.

Don't think you do with one of those. I would if I was boost charging though.

I don't know if you actually NEED to disconnect the battery but I tend to do it when charging any at my house just for safe measure.

Thanks for the replies, I've only every used the charger once and that was for a completely flat battery in another car. Brought the battery indoors on that occasion as I didn't have a long enough extension lead. The 206 has actually been fine but thought I would charge as a preventative measure.

At work we trickle charge all the Vito taxis, sometimes we have to put the chargers on max if there really flat. Never removed the batteries from the cabs though

I've never removed a battery when charging it either. Even when totally drained.

Faults can take weeks or months to become apparent in electronic systems.
There is a very high risk of cοck-up doing things like that in my experience.
