Just my luck... I've not been using my car ('04 206, 1.4i) for 6 weeks due to it not being taxed. I turned it on this morning, and the spanner light came on and the mileometre says "200". I Took it for an MOT and CO reading is very high. (3.2!*) ... Also the normal engine warning light has been on for about 3 months.

My initial thoughts are to check for air leaks, change the filters & plugs, run some decent fuel and redex through it, and check the injector resistance. Also the upstream lambda sensor cable is very frayed (core showing), so going to replace that too.

If that doesn't fix it, my next steps will be to get the error codes read properly, and look at swapping MAP sensor and Coil pack (bougicord fitted currently).

I've got a couple of questions though:

Does the dashboard '200' code diagnose anything, or is it just a general warning? Does it relate to the OBD code p0200?

I have read that the resistance of my injectors should be about 16ohms. Do I have to take the fuel rail off to measure this, or is there an easier way to get at the electrics? And, if I do need to take the fuel rail off, how do i prevent air getting into the system?

And, any other advice greatfully received...

Thanks

Colin

* Despite my 206 producing more carbon monoxide than a Spanish hotel, they passsed me anyway! Nice One...

Spanner = car is due a service.

The 200 is just part of the mileage count down to the service.

Cheers mate, I've just discovered the 'how to' section, doing the fix now.

So... Anyone here ever checked their injector resistances?

What He Said

I dunno why you wanna test your injectors, you have many problems can cause the CO2 to be high,so replace the spark plugs, and the lambada sensor, filters, and you will be ok

I agree there are many reasons why CO could be high... an injector malfunction is one of them... this is why I want to test them, so I can either find the fault or rule them out.

Top 206 tip so you dont get caught out:

Cylinder number 1 is the GEARBOX end Wink

So many people on here have changed the wrong injector due to them not knowing about PSA's odd back to front cylinder numbering system Laughing
