i currently have a phase 1 boot strip will a phase 2 boot strip be a straight fitment?

yeah if I remember rightly two 10mm bols and its off. Just pull off the plastic boot lid trim from the inside

Remember you may need to t-cut or something similar if it leaves a line where the old one was. Mine wasn't to bad and a polish got it out easily.
