Hi guys / gals,
A month or so back, some wally decided to slam into the side of my beloved 3 door 206 HDi and due to the estimated cost of the repair (over 2k at a recommended peugeot bodyshop) the insurance made me an offer I literally couldn't refuse and they have basically written off the car and have paid me some money but said I could keep the car (salvage).
For a number of reasons I wont go into here, it's going to work out better for me to keep the car and repair it.
I know my 206 and all it's history from before and during the time I've owned it and asside from some routine repairs that needed doing before the accident, the only damage to the car is purely cosmetic (Passenger door, Rear wing and paneling along the sill but slightly above the sill itself).
Besides that, it's a great little car and I really don't want to part with it.
My Questions:
1. On my 206, the rear panel seems to seemlessly extend across the top of the windows and also along the bottom of the car (along the sills). However, when I've looked at replacement panels, it only shows as a rear quarter panel and does not seem to include the other panel parts.
Do I take it the rear panel is separate from those along the top and bottom of the door and they have been filled and blended to give the appearance of once complete panel up to the front wing?
2. Does anyone know of a guide or instructions to remove these panels? While I know my way around the engine bay and the rest of the moving parts, I am not too familiar with the panels and bodywork and all the info I can find out before hand will help. I have a Haynes manual which I've not checked yet but I suspect that this task is beyond a Haynes manual.
3. I am going to try and source second hand panels in the color that matches the colour of my car, where possible but in the event that I can't, I will need to get new panels which will likely need spraying. Are there any sprayers here that could give me a very rough ballpark figure for having these panels sprayed? It's basically the passenger door, the rear panel and along the sill. If spraying prior to fitting would be cheaper, then that's okay. I'm just guaging the cost so no exact estimate needed.
If it's not too hard to get these panels off and back on again, I can source at least the rear quarter panel new for £120 or around £40 - £60 second hand. I can source a door for around £100 second hand.
The car needs the driveshaft replacing which has recently started to go, the tyres replacing as one of them was on an advisory at the last MOT and a few of the suspensions components need replacing as they are worn. Not even £500 to someone handy with the spanners.
Obviously got VIC check and MOT to factor into the cost but still, a damn site cheaper than 2k and I've also managed to include some of the outstanding repairs in that costing too. Bargain. Sure beats what it will cost me to get a replacement car and insure it.
Just need a rough price for the spray and we're away - HOPEFULLY.
Worse case, I'll fix the damage and get the spray done another time.

Rear quarter panel is welded on - unless you have the correct tools & skills to replace it then leave the job to a professional.
Dont even think about a 2nd hand part, total waste of time & money, new genuine Peugeot panel.
Also the 206 bodyshell bends very easily, it needs checking professionally to see if its needs a session on the body jig.

i have rear quater damage at the moment from where a moped went in the side of the car, been quoted between £150 - 300 to fix, said they would pull it all out and fill anything they couldn't pull out plus a full side respray! i think this is a good price as it metalic paint on my car, and also i have damage to the sideskirt as you have, this will also be fixed in the price.
as mrBSI said the rear quater can not be replaced without the correct now how and it would not be cheap.
can you upload any pictures? have you been to any other bodywork shops other than a peugeot one? even though peugeot will do the best job they will charge ALOT more than any other bodyshop who will do just as good a job.

Sry typing on phone here. I had the same issue as you.
I drilled a small hole in each dent, pulled it out with a cork screw.
Body filled it and sanded the whole car smooth after removing lights and windows.
Cost 400 in supplies for etching primer, filler primer, colour and clearcoat.
So for 400 and some hard work you can make it look new, choose a new colour, and get a sense of self accomplishment.
If you want to try that route will send pics on how to paint, sand, fill, etc from what I have.
Up to the filler primer already and waiting for warmer temps in a week to colour. Now im redoing all upholstery and interior lights for under 100 if that interests anyone let me know and will post step by steps and pics.
