Balljoint splitter, the fork type, about £4 from halfords I think.
Or, a pry bar behind the ball joint (Behind as in looking from the wheel arch towards the engine) there's a small area that you can fit a pry bar in and push down on the wishbone and up on the hub to pop the balljoint.
Orrrrrrr, a plank of wood, with a block of wood on the end, the block of wood sits on your subframe, then the plank comes from there and out to where your wishbone is, tie it onto the wishbone with some strong rope or even better some metal chain and stand on it / put pressure on it.
Sidenote: Make sure you've fully removed the pinch bolt as it rests in a recess in the balljoint, loosening it does nothing, it needs to be fully removed

You mean pop it out of the hub???
A balljoint splitter will trash the rubber seal.
Does this help?

Aye it'll naturally bounce back up due to the bushes pushing the wishbone upward and the suspension pushing down, it kinda wants to keep itself held together once you get the balljoint split and out it'll make more sense than how it reads lol..

Never split one of these before but either a prybar with someone else hitting the joint with two hammers (plenty of videos on youtube) or a scissors type splitter will separate it without damaging the seal.

Got it split, used a bar and just kept moving it up and down. Did help by jacking the hub up slightly.
