Hello everyone Smile

Here is my progress thread for my 206, I had another thread but I fancied making a new one and putting everything together from the start till now. Its a 1.4 8 valve and I love it!
Here it is completely standard:

My original gearstick gaiter had a hole in it so I bought a new one which was a nicer colour with light grey stitching, and put this gearknob on to replace the standard one. The gaiter is really nice but the gearknob wasn't made very well so I have the standard one back in now.

Then I put a new style SP badge on the honeycomb grille - best grille in my opinion Wink

Next up was a spoiler that I got painted and fitted at a Peugeot dealership bodyshop, even a year on I am still very pleased with it!

I've seen a lot of tatty steering wheels on 206s, so I got this leather steering wheel cover to preserve it.

Steelies were letting things down a bit, so I won these Nimrods on eBay from a breakers yard that had just got them powdercoated, with tyres and bolts for a bargain price

The new style SP badge was falling apart, and didn't stick to the grille very well so I made my own badge.

Got the fuel cap powdercoated at citypowdercoaters

Two nice photos from FCS

Update 15th November 2011

Now that everything looked as I wanted it to, I set about looking for suspension kits that would improve the handling. I asked for macj's advice and linked me to an ebay listing for a brand new springs and dampers kit made by Apex. The guy who was selling them had bought them for the wrong car, I got them for £100 as I was the only bidder - if I see this guy, I will buy him a pint.

My friend is a mechanic and he has fitted it. He also adjusted the torsion bar (the proper way, none of that click bullsh*t) by 30mm, but we had no idea the new rear shocks were shorter, so my car was slammed at the back! So back to work re-adjusting, and the back being as high as it can be on these shocks, it all now sits like this:

Handling is suberb! No more horrible bodyroll, and now I actually get some steering feedback whereas before there was precious little of it.

22nd January 2012

This has been done a while now but forgot to share it on here. The engine cover was reflective when I first cut and polished it but since I only used normal clear lacquer it didn't last, it needs recoating with VHT lacquer. The manifold cover and other metal surfaces will be polished up with Autosol, and all plastics will be be cleaned and be treated to plastic dressing for the show season, I would also like to get some hose and wire tidies. Let me know what you think

13th April 2012

I won a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold on ebay, it's second hand but the previous owner welded the y-pipe on to save me the bother which is always nice. Here it is as I got it and after cleaning up, none of my detailing products could help with the staining so I whipped out the 400 grit sandpaper, I might go over it with gradually finer sandpaper to get the shine back. My dad reckons it will start to rust now as I have taken the coating off it, but I'm not so sure, what are you opinions on the matter?

I did 400 grit wet and dry, then straight to 2500. To clarify the finish just a bit more I used regular paper (you heard right) dipped in water to polish the manifold. Paper has a mild abrasive property just right for that sort of thing.

27th May 2012

Not too much of an update, spent some time detailing it today and saw that the lacquer on the honeycomb grill strips were lifting and getting dirt underneath so I wipped them off and sprayed metallic red.

Thanks guys Smile

The Apex kit product code is SP-70-1050-40, ride quality is still comfortable but you will feel road imperfections a fair bit more. Some dislike this, but I prefer it already over the standard 'floaty' feel, I like to know whats going on beneath the tyres

The springs and dampers have greatly improved handling, but I would like some advice on what anti roll bars I could use from higher spec models to further improve my handling, I've heard certain ones won't fit the 1.4. What anti roll bar links would I have to use?

I also have some GTi180 front calipers that I am going to spruce up, I wouldn't be putting these parts on until the summer but I can use that time to collect all the parts and get more advice. I'm assuming all I would need for the brakes are disks and pads, then I'm good to go? With these two upgrades I would say my suspension plans would be complete Smile

Thanks for the comments guys Smile You'll give me a big head haha!

Unfortunately I got a dent from someone opening their door into my rear quarter panel which needs sorting, but I do have some SP arches I've painted up using Ste's guide, they look good! Just need to find some clips, not bad for £20 though

I'm definately going to as many shows as I can next year, I am setting up working for myself now so getting the days off isn't a problem. Ryan, if I can find a small generator I will machine polish your car at any of the shows, can have a haircut as well if you want Razz (I'm a barber to those that don't know)

Cheers
