When (miles) and how often is it recommended to replace the brake fluid in a Peugeot 206 (54 plate)?
Is it easy to do by yourself or should it be done by a mechanic?
How long does it take to bleed and replace the brake fluid and how much would it cost me (if done by a mechanic)?
Which brake fluid is recommended?
Cheers

think its 4 years for brake fluid
any from the likes of unipart euro part own brand will do
it can be done by yourself and a friend would take about 1hr
just do some searches on bleeding brakes and you will have enough knowledge to do it
if done by yourself should be able to get it done with £10

and a proper bleed screw spanner. Normal spaners ruin the screws.

Should I use dot 4 brake fluid?
If I get it done by a garage, will it cost me around £30?
Thanks

Its every 2 years or 20k
£49.99 at our main dealers
You can do it yourself, if you have a or two mates handy, one pumps, one drains the fluid, one refills/checks the level
It takes me on a ramp about 10 minutes, on the floor/jack 20 and thats without a pressure bleeder

4 for a normal car
But 5.1 never hurt anyone, just make sure you dont mix the fluid and completely drain the original

well....
most top brand racing brake fluid are dot 4 or dot 4+; you rarely find good 5.1

It's your brakes. If you're not 100% sure what you're doing, let a professional do it. You only get one attempt at stopping in time

You know the saying
"If in doubt......don't be a complete retard and attempt something as critical to the safety of you and everyone else on the road in order to save £30"...... well, it goes something like that...

500ml is all we get for a complete change
I personally agree with 1L though

I got my car's brake fluid replace today by a local garage, he only charged me £10 - I just had to get the brake fluid for him.
He only used 800ml of dot 4 brake fluid. How can I check to make sure he did flush the old brake fluid out?
