Hi i have a 206 sport 1.4... Had a gearbox oil leak for a while before i bought the car, had the seal repaired and now changing gears especially the first gear mainly catches and is difficult to get in at 2-3000 + revs. At low revs is nearly fine.
Any help would be appreciated.

You have a Faulty clutch Pressure Plate,so to fix it,you have to replace this plate with a new one.

From bitter experience:
Any other gearbox oil other than OEM (Total BV 75W80 non-synth) is a complete nightmare with MA box.
I have even used "PSA approved 75W80 Valvolene" and it was hopeless.
THE most important thing regarding the MA box is to put the exact oil specified by pug, and then it's perfect.
You'll see.

Thanks for the responses
Ok I took it to the garage that repaired the gearbox oil leak seal... they said its not there problem and couldn't say what the probably was and they didn't touch the gearbox anyway????
Gonna take to peugeot monday, only had it a month and its a 2006 model.

How could a gearbox leak be fixed without touching the gearbox?
And how come you now have the EXACT behaviour of incorrect gearbox oil?
Just sayin'.

They put in 75 90.
Just a 'top up' they said. taking to peugeot on monday but am worried that i may do further damage driving as is?

No damage has or will occur.
But it's not enough to put any 75W80 in there.
It must be Total "BV" which is 75W80 non-synth and is what dealers are supposed to put in.
It was designed specificaly for the MA box and works perfectly with it.
Anything else and the synchro rings don't slip properly, either too much or too little.
Also, give it 10 miles or so to rinse and settle.

Done that, then put Valvolene 75W80 for PSA only supossedly, and it was even worse.
I had to pray to put 1st gear every time. The rest of the gears I swore.

well you need to read the spec more in depth.
if you check the BV75/80; Viscosity at 100 is 8 and at 40 is 49;
durablend is 9.2 and 60.6;
even motul 75w-80 has 10.1 and 58.8
miller 75w/80 10.4 and 74.9.
see the difference?
they all claim to meet or excess PSA spec 
but time has proved which is right and which is wrong
synchro need the right thickness of oil to work properly.
