This happened to me about a month ago, just thought it was the car throwing and jidd, so let it slip by. But it has happened to me today as well I removed the keys and the engine is still running and drivable, i put them back in/out still no difference. To turn the engine off i had to stall the car, just been back out 10 minutes later and the car turns on and off fine, really starting to bug me now as i cannot work out what it is, I've noticed on both occasions it has done it it has been on a long run. All help appreciated Thank you.

Also, it might be the key-ignition switch contacts getting fused (stuck closed) as there was an Info-flash
from Peugeot about this and they changed spec of the part subsequently.

Just thought i would say my brothers corsa did this and we found it to be the ignition barrel was worn. The car could be started with anything flat that would fit into the ignition.

haynes gives 4 possibilities for engine running on:
- excessive carbon build-up in engine
- high engine operating temp
- engine management system fault - petrol models
- fuel injection pump fault - diesel models

Forgot to say, I tried stopping by stalling however my ECU was still live so would drain the battery over night.

^^?? Are you sure thats right? I doubt the ECU would driain the battery, stalling would not cause a fault with the ECU?
