As soon as my car was lowered on the back it makes a clonking noise when going over slightly bumpy road at slow speeds, kind of sounds like horse shoes on the ground when they walk

The torsion bar was done the correct method, and I have Apex rear dampers which are a bit of a budget brand. Could this noise be due to the dampers or am I looking at something more unpleasant?

When my car was up on ramps a couple of months a go I checked everything for play but it was all fine

Could be the ARB - Mine did this exact noise after lowering also, only at slow speeds on slightly uneven roads..

Losen the ARB torx bolts, give the ARB ends a light tap up and down then tighten the bolts back up Smile

I just lowered mine this morning, had a knocking noise too,
It was the exhaust hitting of the Axel

I would check its not the exhaust hitting the axle aswell, mine does this and i thought it was a shock absorber gone but they were fine. Turned out to the the exhaust hitting the axle, just get hold of the tailpipe and shake it up and down to see if it hits.

Thanks for the advice guys, my tail pipe does sit a little high, have been meaning to get some longer rubbers

I will give both things a try, my worst fear was shot trailing arms or wheel bearings

In fairness the back is still too low, probably 50mm down at the moment. When the weather is good I want to raise it 10 or 15mm

Mines doing this and has been for about 6 months. Doesn't bother me and I'm lowered anyway between 70-80mm at the rear.

I see, so it could just be a minor annoyance?
