Hello, (2000 206 gti) i have noticed under the oil cap to be a milky substance, the car has been stood for 18 month, first guess was head gasket but as i started to do abit of investing i found this pipe that leads from before the air box to the back of the engine with a split down the middle letting air in and it was full of milky residue so obviously this needs replacing as it is in 3 pieces but could this be the cause to the milkly residue on the oil filler cap?
Thanks all help appreicated

After changing that pipe do a oil and oil filter change. If you are still finding mayo then its a bigger job

Oh dear, could it be the pipe letting in the condensation in though? Thanks.

That is possible,so do as guys said, replace the pipe with a new one, change oil,and oil filter, and see how things going to be after that.

Well I have an Alloy oil breather tank and the deposits are like Mayo as oil vapour mixed with a cold tank =Mayo,so if you change your oil and it's comes out like Mayo you have a problem.

Blown head gaskets are very rare on the EW10 engine.
Do as Spike suggests, do an oil change and run the car for at least 30 miles and see if it clears at all.

As mentioned above, My Gti 180 breather was full of brown milky oil, and the oil cap was the same, but I did do a lot of short journeys ( 5 miles) worse comes to worse do a compression test, I did and all cylinders were the same bar one, but was within 20% of the others which is acceptable.
