I think there is a big problem with my 206 in that there is now nothing wrong with it.
This is the first time this happens in the 6 years of owning it and I am very worried.
Any ideas?

There has to be something wrong with it, go back and check again. If there really is nothing wrong with it... You're doing it wrong

I had mine roughly the same amount of time and apart from wear and tear never had a single problem with it.

Ehem..not after all the work V9977 has put in this car (and mine).
We sleep and wake up mumbling about it
Due to the situation over here, he thinks it may be more difficult to sort out the cars later on.

Touch wood I have never had a major fault with my 206, yes I have replaced drop links and tie rods and the rest of it and I think my wishbones will need changing soon but other than perishables I have not had any engine troubles

My daughter has had her 206 for just over a year.
Faults are all the normal ones.
On purchase
Indicator stalk - cured by strip and clean.
Thermostat - replaced.
Aftermarket CD/radio - not connected at purchase - fixed with correct adaptor.
Wear and tear
New bottom wish bones.
Upgrade
Installed seats from a GLX to get full 3x 3 point seat belts in the rear and 3x headrests - she often carries a car full of mates and thought the upgrade essential.
Fitted rear door speakers including fully hidden wiring all the way from the speakers to the CD.
Waiting to be done.
The clutch bite point is now quite high and the forced auto adjusting trick with the clutch pedal makes no difference so I guess a clutch sometime in the future.
We shopped around for ages and saw some real junk before settling on this W plate for £1,000 negotiated down to £960 with 54,000 on the clock, brght blue with Roland Garros sunroof. A few car park dings but a very nice car.
Although an Alfa lover myself as an ex mechanic these seem to be great cars, very reliable and easy to work on. As a 1.4 8V injection it is a bit less economical than I was expecting but a totally reliable car that in 6,000 miles has been great to her. If she wanted to drive to Scotland tomorrow I wouldn't worry. Across Europe and I would insist on a new clutch first.
Sorry to the OP if this is a bit of a highjack of their thread.

Got to agree with the majority of this thread. Mines never really had an issue. If it has it has been my fault in some way (snapping a part of the turbo) or general wear and tear (exhaust/brakes).
However saying that, my EML is having a fun time ATM (TPS Sensor), but to me an 11year old car with nearly 100k on the clock. Some of the original sensors are going to give up at some point.
I'm happy with it. Took the time when searching for it, looked at loads of examples and didn't rush into buying the first half decent looking one. Nor snapped up the cheapest as it was a 'bargain'.
Out of the 5previous owners it has had I've been the owner who's put on the majority of the milesand in that time, I'd like to think I've looked after it (most of the time), it has parts replaced when it needs it, it has a service every 6months-1year and isn't ragged everywhere. In return I'm rewarded with a car which never really let's me down.

There's so many good things about these pugs not least of which is that they're easy to work-on.
I have always been very (overly?) sensitive as to what is a problem and what is normal when it comes to cars.

Adjust the tappets and never look back.

1) Thank you for the advice. It is a VERY quiet engine so tappets should be good. Though possibly closed up (is that why it is so quiet?) so I will give it a go.
2) Thank you for being so understanding.
3) Her mother is an Alfaholic, her brother is an Alfaholic, I am an Alfaholic. She loves them but couldn't find one that was different enough to her brothers or insurable so a 206 it was. Nice car though.
Finally, it also seems a bit low on power and I have fully serviced it. In comparison her brothers old (104,000 mile) 55bp 1.4 8V Corsa was quicker. Previous owner of the 206 had the belt changed by a mate so I suspect cambelt timing may be out so will work up the energy and funds to deal with that in a few months.
