Hi folks,

I have a gti 180 and recently the temperature gauge when sat in traffic will creap over half. However, when I flick the a/c on the gauge drops to half way, and sometimes below.

Now I'm new to the 180 world, is this normal?

Also, the oil temperature when hooning sometimes goes over 90, is this normal?

I hope these aren't problems, as the car is good fun, but I keep finding things like this recently and I don't want to get rid of it so early into ownership.

One more thing - the car feel sluggish sometimes. Would it be worth plugging the car into a diagnostic machine?

Thank you,
P.B

To be honest matey i think it is normal - when the temp hits around 100 on the gauge the fan will kick in and cool it back down.
Iirc when you turn the a/c on it will start the fan automatically - although im not 100% sure on that one

Guys, thank you for the advice. I was worried something serious was wrong with the h/g.

I haven't had the solenoid changed. Is it an expensive job?

Thank you again

Hi,

I have peugeot 206 1.4 1999. I am loosing the coolant, no leaks can be seen and oil looks good - no coolant in there, also no white smoke in exhaust.

Spark plugs were checked in garage today as car is misfiring a little.

Today on a short trip home the temp gauge went bit over 90 and than straight into red in like 5 sec. Stopped for 2 - 3 min started again and temp. was back to normal.
At home checked the coolant level after engine cooled down a little and it was fine. Heated it up to working temp. and it did not overheat. Left it for another half an hour and the coolant was gone again from the reservoir?
Where could the coolant go?
