At random times whenever I start the car the engine turns off straight away regardless if its hold or cold. This is a Intermittent fault. Garage said map sensor needs replacing so got it replaced but problem still there.
Whenever I start the car in neutral where should the rev needle should be at?
I notice when i put electrical stuff on like radio, headlights, wipers etc during the engine on. the rev needle goes down a bit then up a bit. Like when the needle goes down you can feel it bout to stall then it doesnt and the needle goes back up and the same pattern repeat itself.
Why is that?
Regarding the engine turning off straight away problem, when i turn on the electrical stuff on before starting the engine, thats when the turning off problem is more likely to happen.
I dont think the battery is dead because if it is then the car would not start at all and I have to jump start it all the time which I dont.
Please advise. Cheers,

sounds like your car is struggling to start from cold. could be your battery not holding enough charge to power all your accessories, or it could be an alternator or even the belt.

could be alternator and or battery is dying as not enough power to run the car and the electrics, i would check the battery 1st and then look at the alternator to see if it is charging.

Sound like it's most surely a battery problem, either too much or too little current/voltage, my friends currently got that problem with his astra.
Change the battery and after driving it a few days, see if it persists, if it does could be your altenater.

It happens regardless if hot or cold.

Mine used to do after long periods of not being turned off while i was messing with it off road. Its just the battery that was dead and when i charged it i hadnt charged it long enough but i just kept it at 2000rpm for about 2min and it was fine again now i make sure its run everyday for at least 10mins so that i dont have this problem again.

The question what should be asked is what ice you got if your drawing too much current revs will dip and it's clear your not very technically minded and I wouldn't worry at all tbh

Battery. Mine something similar to this. It would also bring faults up for the airbags and abs etc.
I guess it was because all the power was being drained from the battery on start up.
New battery. Problemo solved.

While you're at it, give the stepper motor a clean.

I'm a noob when it comes to mechanical terms. What is a stepper motor?
I took it to the same garage where I was told it was the map sensor and got it replaced. Now the same garage is saying is saying its the crank sensor that's causing it and they are charging me £80 to replace it.
