The 206 is gone Smile and to replace it, i picked up a little something ive been lusting after for 7 months! he finnaly sold it to me, so here it is: the 205 Rallye!

1.4 - Honda Fireblade Bike Carbs
Lowered on Coils
Rear Box
Half Cage
Stripped Out

it's a bit tatty in places, but i do love a project. right now im trying to solve the overheating issues when sitting in traffic for more than 10 minutes.

just done the oil change and engine flush and filter and it seems a lot happier, and need to flush out the radiator and replace the coolant. ill also install a temperature guage so i can monitor the temperature before the light comes on and it dies.
I dont think the fans kicking in, so im going to change the stat and keep my eyes out for a twin fan gti radiator and wire the fans to switches in the cabin.

comments welcome Smile

its a welded in cage, im a metal worker by trade and bought the car off a chap i work with. he made and put the cage in. simple and still allows the rear seats to be in place.

unsure of the plans as of yet and what direction to go with it, but i think....

cosmeticaly:

tidy up the interior and diy spray scratched interior metals
remove the decals outside and tidy up the paint work
apply 'Works' style rallye livery - as it helps break up the white a bit more.
powdercoat/spray pepperpot alloys white.

engine:
have the bike carbs balanced to run more efficiently.
sort out all over heating problems and make it more efficent and reliable in town.
new exhuast system from mani to the back.

Upgrade brakes and coils. and stiffen up chasis.

certainly isnt as shocking as them chrome bits of tube that the saxo boys put in with a couple of self tappers...

im in two minds about the cage though, either cut it out and get the interior into some kind of semblance, or remove seats and finish it. but the cars not powerful enough to lug around unnessassary heaps of steel tubing just to impress some people on a forum.

a full competition cage means glass out , drop the tank and go to town on it, which is a bit more effort than i can be bothered with.. bolt in cages are pants too, so i cant be arsed with hacking away at the dash to accomodate the front sections of one.

a full cage shouldnt be in a road car anyway, not without a helmet.

but i think it some what suits the car, just needs tidying up .

the seat covers in the above pictures stayed on for all of 12 hours before i took them back and changed them.

so, after a day at work getting grubby, i thought id take a break from my own engine issues and do something indoors..

cue tired ripped rear bench!
the bottom half wasnt much better...

for all who say halfords seat covers are s**t, your doing it wrong! what can be acheived with a hogring tool and some spray adhesive

halfway through..

the top half needs just a few more corners pulling round but its already like a new interior! will do the nackered front seats after work tomorow.

well after a few evenings p**sing about with the seats, ive decided to put the rear bench in my girlfriends 205 gti.

so...

i picked these up for an absolute steal, brand new second hand, paid less than half price for two seats and the mounts. FIA approved for 5 more years, fiberglass, comfy andmost of all, light!

the side mounts need a bit of modification and fabrication to get them sitting how i want, but its just something i can do after work one day.

this also means some harnessess are in need.. so i ordered up two FIA 4 point 3" TRS harnessess in black.

im cutting the cage out this weekend as im not happy with it, and replacing it with just a harness bar, much lighter.

also got a cheap second hand fiberglass battery box, so ill be relocating the battery either in the boot or behind the passenger seat.

other than that, ive flushed the radiator out, fitted a new thermostat so at least the fan is working. i still need to get a new heater matrix as mine was leaking coolant into the cabin, and fit my water temp gauge.

there's a little bit of welding that needs to take place in the cabin what with the harness bar and two eyelet mounting plates on the exhaust tunnel for the harness's, so ill give the metal work a dusting of paint before bolting the seats down for the final time Smile

then its onto the exterior and brakes...

comments and suggestions welcome
