Hi fellas,
My sunroof stopped working today, as I got in the car I opened it, it opened but as it was finishing to fully opened the motor started making this ticking sound as if it's running on empty, and it still makes this sound now. the roof itself stopped responding to the motor, as if the wires pulling the roof have broken off..
Although it was stuck at the open position (scared me for a moment) I was successful in forcing it to close, but it cannot be locked in, so basically the roof is closed but can be opened from the outside at any given moment..
I believe this is a known issue with these sunroofs, any fix? please help guys..

happened to my xsi when i had it! really easy fix!!! you have to take down the roof lining first then you can see the motor! All that happened is one of th bolts has come lose or fallen out!
The first time it happened to mine put lock tight on the bolt and tightened bck up! lasted a year but came lose again The next time i drilled the hole out bigger and tapped it out to fit a larger bolt!
Not a five min job but if you got the time have a go!
O and most important bit is make sure the gears are lined up or it wont open right!!

Well my pug is at the windows specialist, the rails are gone and need replacing, new parts are from Peugeot dealer and work is being done by the window guy. damage is 250£, that's 1500 NIS (shekels) here.. not cheap at all, but I had to get it sorted because the roof began to open and close during driving.. and driving me nuts making sounds like it's gonna come apart and fly into someones windshield..
the roof spoiler is also broken, if it can't be fixed it's gonna be another 40 £ at least, and finally to top it all if the motor needs rebuilding that's another 140 £.. I facepalmed myself about 20 times today already...

And so it goes... motor being fixed too.. another 140£.. thats 390£ now (and counting) :Q

Well regarding the rails - I'm pretty sure they were ruined, because the roof itself came off of them and moved sideways freely, and the plastic and rubber pieces that run the roof through the rails were ruined and broke all through the rails also.
Now about the motor itself.. I can't really know now can I?.. the guy said that he inspected the motor and that it looks like the main gear needs to get a makeover and if he will fit it like it is right now, the sunroof will open and close a couple of times and then it'll stop working.. so, I had to believe him and go for the fix.. in these cases it all comes to trust, maybe the motor was fine, but I believed the guy, and by the looks of it, these motors will fail after about 10 years or so, and my pug is 11 so..
That said, I can't wait to go pick it up tomorrow and enjoy the new stuff
Oh and I really need a new roof spoiler too, hope I'll get one asap to finish the whole sunroof saga.

Epilogue:
Sunroof rails+runners replaced [original Peugeot parts]
Motor reconstructed
Money spent [parts&work]- 2200 NIS (shekels) *366£
He gave me the parts he replaced:
-Two cables
-Pieces of broken plastic and torn rubber (plastic parts that pull the roof and are connected to the cables, rubbers are what the roof sits on)
-One cogwheel made from white plastic & metal that came of the motor [was all broken and chipped]
Now, I'm happy I fixed it, and I feel great now that the roof is in good shape, AND also it was important for me to have it fixed so I wouldn't loose too much on the car if\when I'll sell it.. but I know there should be a sunroof fixing kit which includes these exact parts, and I saw the cogwheel on ebay for 7£ (!!)..
Was I overcharged? is the motor such a hard thing to fit the cogwheel on?? I mean, for 7£ I think I could've open it myself and fit the cogwheel in.. so to charge 133£ for replacing it is a bit exaggerated.. (take in mind that the cogwheel costed about 30£ here).
But overall I'm satisfied, and I hope I helped\will help someone here in the future with the same problem..
P.S: sunroof spoiler needs replacing\self fixing cause one of it's arms had broke off and now the left side of it won't lower when the roof is closed, will fix asap
