Hi all,

Since owning the car I've done three fill ups, the first one, the fuel gauge went straight to the top (as I had filled it fully). The subsequent ones have had NO effect on the fuel gauge whatsoever.

Like a good noob, I've been doing searches and apparently it can boil down to a shagged sender unit or a BSI bug.

So...
Sender:
How can I test the sender? Presumably a resistance across the thinner prongs? What about the thicker prongs to the right on the plug?

What sort of voltage/resistance should I expect? I estimate the fuel tank to be at 3/4 quarters at the moment.

Should I need to replace the sender is it straight forward? Do I have to drain the tank? If any one can give a quick run through that'd be brill.

BSI:
Whilst I don't mind giving the cretins at Peugeot £80 to change a bit of BSI code, I'd rather not. This Lee person seems to know his stuff, does he have the updated firmware/software? I've got PP2000, so I'm assuming I could update it myself if I could get hold of the software... Obviously I'd pay him (or anyone else who is competent with this)... is this possible?

Thanks!

Lee wont do firmware updates. This happened to mine a few times, just run it near empty, then refill.

Even if you could actually get hold of the correct BSI software package its not worth the risk!

If something goes wrong during the update you could end up with a dead 206 & an expensive repair bill.

The two thicker prongs are the fuel pump motor terminals.
The thin ones are the level sensor.

If the seensor is naffed you will have to replace the whole pump unit.

All software updates are worth every penny at your authorised dealer.
You might find it's cheaper than you thought, or there might well be one for the ECU which
can pay-back for the expense really quickly. I think the charge would be the same if you do both
at the same time.

You won't be able to update it as you are using China clone so don't have a D user

He is on about adsayer's PP2000 and connector, he is saying that he more then likely only has a cheap china clone, so wont be able to do everything (the connector)
