seen quite alot of re posts asking the same things so thought i would put up a list of what you can do
Brakes
all 206 have the same caliper mounting holes so any from any model will fit up front
206 GTI 180
the 206 gti 180 caliper is a good upgrade and can be done cheaply, all you will need is the gti 180 discs 283mmx26mm, and pads ofcourse
306 GTI-6
next is the 306 gti 6 caliper, again these will fit with no hasstle and you will need the 306 gti 6 discs which are 283mmx22mm, and pads
406 brembo
if your wanting looks the 406 v6 brembo caliper will bolt on with the gti 180 disc, others have been used but i prefer the 180 disc as its thicker than the gti6 disc, you can use the 307 discs but its really the same as the gti 6, you can fit bigger discs with these but a bracket will be needed and custom brake discs, schumi got some 330mm discs on with 406 brembo but im sure it cost alot
you will notice some loss in pedal feel as the caliper requires more fluid so it travels further, braided hoses help mine but i used the 40 hoses which were 2 if not 3x longer, you can change the master cylinder to a 406 one with a gti6 servo but cannot confirm yet
with these calipers you will get squeel from them i have not yet been able to find a good resolution to this other than to clean them, best one so far was to spray the pad/piston whilst on the car with brake and clutch cleaner
307 GTI 180
i have herd that 307 gti 180 discs and calipers fit which are 302mm but yet to confirm
Seat cupra brembo
there was a member on here that had these calipers on with over 300mm discs but i do not know anything about these other than its possible with a bracket made up, the mounts are different so makeing a bracket allows you to pick the disc size
i think all these calipers bar the seat use the same thread on the flexi hose
Air filters
there are 2 types
induction kits
pannel filters
people tend to prefere one to the other but its what you want form it that will help you decide
induction kits replace the air box intake pipe and sometimes include a cold air feed, these are designed to increase the amount of cold air that you can get, depending on the type of kit as some are enclosed where others are open, these cost anywhere fron £50 to £300 they will make noise and increase cold air to the engine with a little more throttle responce, im not going to mention bhp as i believe they do verry little sometimes reduce it
pannel filters are cheap and replace the origional air filter, they have better air flow and make little noise but keep the origional air box which some argue is better (pug didnt spend time and money developing it for no reason)
manifolds
GTI
with the gti 138 you can get a receland manifold found on ebay for less than £200, these are a good cheap upgrade to the standard manifold, fitting requires removing the subframe or dropping the engine, the cal also will need cutting and the flange provided welded on to connect to the manifold, great upgrade gives you a little more mid range torque, all round a good mod to have
other brands are maniflow and spoox, but these are around the £400 mark but will offer better quiality and performance as the raceland is 4-1 where as these are 4-2-1
im not sure but i think these manifolds will fit the 180 with some port matching
other models are more streight forward as the maifold is on the front of the engine, they will still need the cat welding to the flange, again raceland are the budget one
CAT's Petrol Only
people will say to de cat others to get a sports cat, i have had all 3 and can say there is little difference in them other than a little noise, i think you need alot more powerr to see the difference from this, with a de cat you willlnot pass an MOT with a sport (200 cell) you will
CAMS
cams can get expensive quickly, all models are different but the same princibles apply, you will need a re-map/stand alone ecu, the cams, in nearly all cases vernier pullies, cam belt (while you are changin that you may aswell get a water pump and aux belt)
i got for my gti a re-profile from the standard cams for this i did not need the pullies which saved me money but they were very mild so i only gained 13 over standard after a re-map with my mods
Suspension
this relates to all models, i have had lowering springs from SPAX which were ok but didnt feel tight, i now have eibach springs and uprated damper which are underrated as they make a good amount of difference to the feel of the car, the eibach are way better than the spax so my advice is that they are the ones to go for if your wanting just lowering springs, dampers up the cost and you are able to run the springs with out uprated dampers
coilovers are for those wanting either very low or very stiff, with adjustable hight and most times adjustable dampening, if you spend the extra on top mounts you can get the adjustable for camber, dont waste time looking at cheap ones go for good brands, spax being the cheapest good make and AVO or GAZ been a good ones
Torsion bars
this is part of the rear suspension, there are different thicknesses, the GTI and XSI having 19.5mm the GTI 180 has 20mm
they have to be hammered out and can sometimes be very stubborn, most garages will not touch the job, this is either to replace them or have the rear lowered as the torsion bars have to come out slightly to adjust the hight
pug1off do different thicknesses for reasonable pices or pug sport do them
thicker = stifer
Rear ARB
this is the tube that runs the width of the axel, inside is the ARB the GTI one is 21mm and the gti 180 is 22mm, the gti 180 ARB is a good upgrade to keep the rear firmly on the floor when pushing the car and at only about £50 from the dealer a really good cheap mod
Front ARB
people leave them alon or dont use them at all, the gti has either 20mm or 22mm the 180 has 21mm the sw has 22mm these are interchangeable
these are all my opinion and should not be taken as fact, most of it is off the top off my head tbh, ill be happy if it helps one person

What sizes are the 1.1 / 1.4 master cylinders? I would personally uprate to a 180 one if upgrading from one of these as well pedal travel may be far too much (same for small diesels)
Should be alright with standard gti brakes however

its only the brembo you have the extra travel with
the 406 MC 23.8mm
gti 22.2mm
1.1 20.6
if its a 1.1 i would get the gti MC with gti brakes but thats the limit really
180 is the same as gti

hmm, just that pretty much every saxo / 106 has a 23.8mm uprated master cylinder for the gti-6 / 180 brake conversion - Even the vts is around 20/21mm
Just interested to how a standard 1.1 mc would hold up with a 283mm brake set up - I haven't tried mine with a smaller one.
Although the standard gti and 180 mc is the same you in theory should notice more travel with the 180 as the brakes are bigger.
So a 1.1 to a 180 brake conversion I think would be too much travel, but would like to see it.

there different calipers, the brembo as there 4 pot they hold more fluid, the standard style caliper single piston floating idea will use less so wouldnt be as noticable as the brembos

It's not the 180 set up mate it's the hi spec 2.0 petrol 307s  I it has a differnt yoke (mounting bracket) that spaces the piston bit off the hub further out. I thought this was old news till I found out know one new about it on here lol.

wrong about rear anti roll bar.
thicker roll bar will lift the inner wheel when cornering; it decrease the grip on the rear.
mc size is not too correct as well.
1.1 with ABS has 22.2 mc; all 206 ABS model has 22.2 mc; non-abs model (like 2.0/1.6/1.4) also have 22.2 mc
