Hi all

I am non-mechanically minded so please bear with me please!

Car is a Peugeot 206 2.0 Hdi LX 2002.

Problem is that the clutch seems to overheat, especially in town traffic, to the extent that I need to pull over and let it cool down before I can go on again. I have taken it to my local mechanic and he is pretty baffled by it, says he cannot find the fault. What he is telling me, however, is that it will cost £500-600 to replace the clutch. After doing some extensive research on here, I cannot find a similar problem and the price to fix seems very high to me. i really do not want to, nor can afford, to pay that amount of cash without a certainty fix.

If anyone could help me, please, I would be grateful.

TIA

Find a better mechanic Wink

£500 / £600 to replace a 206 DW10 clutch is taking the p**s slightly Shocked

Its a hydraulic clutch set up.

Sachs, Valeo or LUK for the clutch kit, there are all decent brands.

Toyota C-HR GR Sport 2.0 Hybrid with JBL & Alcantara packs.

Holy crap
500+ to replace the clutch tell them where to stick the tail pipe!

Have you got a local college near you with young trainee mechanics? I bet the tutor will jump at the chance of teaching them a practical? No harm in asking Smile

Like that idea lots, but, unfortunately, wrong time of year! Those annoying impish people you see hanging around all day are not bunking off school - for the next six long weeks! Wink
