Hello
I have a tinny rattle coming from my exhaust. You can hear it most if you dip the clutch with the hand-break on.
It happens when pulling off or changing gears. The car is 02 plate 206 1.4 LX
Any ideas
Cheers

Just a bit of info. Ive had a new exhaust fitted. Ive been told it could be the engine mounts giving to much play and letting the exhaust move.

If its what i think it is, its not coming from that area, it seems to be coming from where the exhaust bots together with two springs.

That is what mine was doing at around 2000rpm.
I had mine upgraded to a Stainless Steel exhaust so, obviously it does not do it anymore.

There are various heatshields along the complete length of the exhaust system basicly, are you able to get the car up on stands and have a poke about underneath? Could check your bolts at the same time?

Its a Peugeot if the exhaust doesn't rattle it means its probably fallen off
Best thing for you to do is jack the car up, get it rattling and feel your way down the exhaust holding and shaking it as you go and you will soon find it. Best do it with some gloves on when the engine is cold.

It will be the exhaust flexi joint - that is the joint with two bolts and springs that you sprayed with WD40. Inside the joint there is a circular metal sealing ring. When that gets old, rusts and wears away the joint starts to grind together and makes the squeaking you can hear.
Here's a pic of the old one from my car and new one I fitted side by side:
You can get a new one from pug if you want to fit it yourself. I think you have to buy the bolts and springs too so works out about £13.
