after removing my doorcards, mirror covers, sound deadening, speakers and wiring for auto mirrors, and audio, the remote central locking wont engage, i can only lock the car manuallly, and by moving the locking bar across in the boot before closing it

any ideas what ive done haha?

recently put the battery in the boot, but the locking was working fine as that was done 2 weeks ago

i cant even engage the alarm (smaller button on key)

cheers in advance, as usual

Does it lock and then unlock instantly? If so one of the motors has gone. If not, simple things like checking the fuse?

Yes its the drivers footwell box, cant rememebr which one it is, its in the haynes manual but you can probably google it. One of the lock motors that drives them up and down went in mine, replaced it myself and jobs a good'n!

I believe so, my friend who works in a garage ordered them for me, just took 10 min to do, pop the door card off and replace the worn out motor, check which side is not working though, unsure if there is a left and right motor, got the feeling they are the same.

Haven't had to do it myself, but from what I've read here on the site:
Disconnect them one at a time and test the other 2 for proper operation - if the 2 connected ones work OK, then the faulty one is the disconnected one.
