My temerature needle is doing my head in it keeps getting stuck. Does the needle control when the fan kicks in? Also if I was to replace the speedo can I get the mileage changed to what the car is?

I think the BSI takes whatever milage is higher of the two dials and displays that.

This only applies to multiplexed 206's.
If you change the clocks in a preplexed 206, the mileage stays in the speedo memory.
Have you tried changing the needle?

Its a w reg 2000 lx 1.4 3 door lol need any more info? Ive tried to fiddle the needle to get it working again but its just getting stuck. My mileage is digital and I have heard you can get it adjusted? If the needle is just an indicator of the temp and doesnt control the fan I can just leave it you see?

What plex would mine be? Its got two lots of cables which go into the back of the speedo.

Yours is pre plex mate.
If you drive it around with the temp needle not working your engine could overheat without you knowing about it until it's too late.

You could change the speedo but you'll need one with a mileage close to your own and one with two plugs on the reverse.
I had a similar problem 12 months ago with mine. (floppy needles as it's known as)

Fan is linked to sensor on rad so will still come on. Sure it's not the sensor that playing up on the engine?

Nah it's the needle when I get the front Perspex off and press around the needle it moves slightly but before it became totally stuck it did go to about 95 ish and the fan kicked in. Not really fussed if the needles don't kick the fan in. If its the sensor that does that then I can deal with it until I find he right mileage speedo. Cars never over heated on me comes close after a Long journey but fan always kicks in, so hopefully nothing to worry about then?

Also I was told by a French car garage that if I found a speedo which has covered less miles it would set to the current mileage on my old speedo, is this correct? So or example mine is at 110000 and the new one is at 80000 will it stay with 11000 miles when plugged in?.
