what to use to re-attach the inner white door liner?

i.e. like polystyrene foam.

Its for not letting water though to the door panel but I'v been out and took mine off and reattached it and it wouldn't do much it would most probably soak up the water and plastic does not get damages with water damage and you can dry the door panel up. I prefer to have it leaking into my car than it being not let through so i no a seal has gone and then i can sort it before it starts to rust.

Have it leak into the car and p**s your carpets through so they start smelling like a wet dog and begin rotting because you can't be bothered to take the carpets out to dry them properly everytime it rains

or

just make sure the drain holes are free from crap in the bottom of the door so the doors don't fill up with water in the first place.

I don't think the polystyrene foam which the door liner is made of actually absorbs water? If it did act like a sponge the metal door to which it is attached would, as someone has rightly said - 'rot away' and make the carpets irretrievably damaged and in turn begin to rot the metal floor and smell [awful]. These are probably reasons why this material was chosen in the first place and made water tight with sealant/adhesive from a cartridge type gun?

My point being "what can I get to replicate this 'in house' manufacturing process?"

my liner isn't in to bad a shape, it's in reasonable condition anyway!
