Good news! As said cv's are just wear and tear anyway, not a bad job to sort imo either so i'd be happy with that outcome Smile

just a quick question, hope you don't mind

when the car fails m.o.t are you not aloud to drive it anymore untill it passes?

what if the car goes in just before the original m.o.t runs out?

you sure are providing you have time left on the previous mot,
I always get my mot done a month before hand, that way you get 13 months mot Smile or a month to sort any issues out!

found it somewhere else. not sure if that is true or not.

From mottest.net

A question that is often asked follows:

If car fails MOT is the old test certificate still valid until its expiry date?

Well the answer does not seem to be found on any of the government information about the MOT test, so we emailed VOSA with this question and this is their response:

"An MOT certificate is valid until its expiry date. However if your vehicle fails a test before this date and you do not rectify the defects then you are driving an unroadworthy vehicle which is an offence."

When a police man stops you, and asked for mot tax and insurance, You will have a paper copy of the mot, allowing the car to be road worthy, until it expires,
You have the legal right to have the car on the road until it expires!

Beside a police man aint really going to look in depth at a car with mot, its either got it or it doesnt. ! simple..

I'm with you on this one. Even though the MOT is done in the month prior to the expiry, the new certificate is issued on the date of the test and expires over 12 months later. Makes you feel like you are getting something free from the government.

This document tells you that your vehicle has not been shown to meet the minimum legal requirements for the reason(s) detailed. If you intend to use your vehicle on the road you should have it repaired without delay and have it retested before the existing test validity expires.
