There is always the check it with a test light / test meter option

Remember the switch is after the lamp in the circuit.
If you connect to the live and then earth the light strip, it will drain your battery, if you connect in series it will only come on at half strength.

means if i connect led directly to the wire socket the light wont turn off when
close the boot?
