My peugeot 206 1.4 HDI Starts then stops straight away.
I have since found out that it is a common problem see this report...
This problem on a 3+ year old Peugeot 206 1.4 hdi ~40,000 miles and relates
to the positioning of the low pressure hd rigid nylon diesel fuel pipes
laid loose in plastic lugs laid out in two channels on top of the engine
and under the airbox. It is possible for the rearmost of these pipes to
vibrate its way partially out of these lugs and for the lugs to wear a hole
in the nylon pipe.
This lets air into the fuel system prior to getting into the
high pressure fuel pump and eventually stops the car being able to supply
fuel to the engine and the car is immobile (cant even be primed). In
addition if the fuel tank attains a positive pressure at any time fuel
pours out all over the hot engine top and is a definite fire and explosive
hazard.
I have confirmed that this is the problem with my 206, my question is this..
Rather the pay £60 for new pipes + labour could I not just cut the nylon pipe where it is worn and fit a inline connector or would this creat a problem?
Any advise appreciated.

that would work but i would rather replace the whole pipe.
nitrile fuel hose aren't expensive at all

what i mean is buy the hose and cut it yourself.....
better than bridging the old hose.

That would be better but I can't get the old hose off the connectors/Spigots I think thet have been molded or heat treated onto them!

Had a similar problem on my old 1.9 309d. I suppose dervs vibrate more, and bad design fault.

Thanks Squeaker but I have now fixed the problem by cutting the pipe where it was worn and fitted inline connectors for £3.00.
Great chep fix

Hardly a fire hazard as diesel ignites when under high pressure. As a test, get a small amount of diesel and throw a lit match onto it. The match will go out almost immediately.
I'd be more worried about it getting on the road surface and becoming more lethal than ice.

Bucket of diesel in the workshop doorway as we repeatedly throw lit matches in to it as the work experience lad cowers with fear in the opposite corner of the workshop
