been quite busy with this thing.

got the tail gate stripped down and glass out so i can smooth over the rear wiper arm and washer jet holes.

and bonnet stripped down. not too bad, one ding to fill and some surface rust on the underside to cure and its good to go Smile

finally got a template made up to fill in the sunroof hole aswell now. so thats the next majour step. and getting the bumpers and arches off without fecking the clips. this weekend i hope.

long time coming this update. but i took the week off work to really get this car done.

so, my roof solution.
tidied it up after the picture but forgot to photo it.

finished welding on the tailgate and did the filler work ready for paint.

then i attacked the rust under the bonnet. now the boot and bonnet are ready for paint Smile

then i got the body kit off at last

and attacked some more surface rust with a wire wheel and bilt hamber hydrate 80

and more rust when i got the rear bumper off! die rust!

then onto the filler on the shell, just a few small dings thankfully

and.. a real head ache.. i lost the keys with the alarm imobiliser thing on, so.. have to go through all this bodgey boy racer wiring now and remove the alarm!

and thats about it for today and yesterday, started getting some of the plastic sheet up ready to make the spray booth. will add the sides when im ready to paint.

keeping the new colour a secret for now Smile

lol, yea some purists will be moody, but its not one of the limited editions, its been in a crash at some point and the paint was blotchy, so feck it.

that, and painting metalic is very difficult, so ive gone for a gloss colour. just need it done and back on the road so my parents can have their garage back now .

If you were going to do the colour change I honest would have looked at a Matt colour and combined it with the gloss on the plastics. Would have looked mean and subtle at the same time.

But I'm not a purist tbh, as I'm in the middle of rebuilding the Sorrento green with 309 underneaths a 206GTi engine on bike bodies and a set of 8jx16" dare dr-RS and silly lows lol

i dont like matt colours myself, too 2nd division footballer for my liking. they also fade faster and are a knob to keep clean.

the plastics are getting a refurb with some plasticare so should be nice and black again. red stripes staying. 1.9 wheels and bonnet are going black and the body... well its a colour off the megane r26r. is as much as ill say for now.

should look very mean but still subtle.

Uz how much of the engine swap have you done so far? thinking of putting a new lump in my 205 rallye. its just unusable everyday at the moment so im going to have to sell it unless i can think of something to make it more practical.

manual choke and cold starts and it going lumpy and overheating in traffic, its a bloody nightmare.

the 206 gti lump will be a right bell end to do because of the wiring? the 306 engine is a much easier swap, given how many off the shelf parts there are to aid the swap. more power too, though granted a bit heavyer.

I've not done much of the swap yet...working on rebuilding the entire interior loom from scratch due to majority of it being corroded. So just reworking that so its the bare essentials. No audio etc as I'll be running amps and rcas etc. But from what I've heard it's pretty much the same as the 306 engine in the way of slotting in just need shorter driveshafts and the exhaust manifold will need to be reworked. Will look into that once I've got the engine bay sprayed up etc.

this weekend saw the first bit of spraying done. the inside is now fully primed! im going to leave it for a few days to harden, then flat it lightly and then on with the 2k colour.

this way i can get the inside done and mask it off and forget about it for now as its a git of a job spraying the inside of a car.

so, pics:

i wouldnt do it again. its a LOT of work and swearing. and your mrs hates you etc lol

i enjoy it at times when things are goin gright, and i like painting as i seem to be quite a natural at it.

but yea, its a lot of stress. i want my 205 rallye resprayed at some point, but i dont think ill be doing it myself. would rather pay some one i think. i could handle doing the inside again myself, as my dash is almost fully out anyway so its not too much of a ffaff, just getting glass out etc. but there's less fixings in that so we'll see. must get this one finished now.

the colour i bought is propper lush also, so i cant wait to get that on it Very Happy
