I have just had a whole new exhaust system fitted for my 1.1 206. everytime I take it to the garage they fix the problem but it seems to come back within a week. The problem is very loud whilst the car is warming up and squeaks everytime i tap the revs change gear, use clutch. The problem goes after the first couple of miles once the car is up to temp.
anyone any ideas many thanks!!

Turn the radio up until the cars warm.
Get the car up on ramps, crawl underneath and move the exhaust gently to see if it's squeaking on the mounting rubbers. A bit of red grease will solve it if it is.
Possibly the engine mounting though. With engine turned off, gently rock the engine to see if you can identify where the squeak is. Might need 2 of you, one with their head in the engine bay, the other led underneath.
When you have found the squeak, take it from there for repairs or replacing parts.

I had the same problem, it turned out the exhaust centre had fitted the wrong exhaust clamp at the front joint. Replaced and problem solved.
Bet it turns out to be this

None of the above.
The centre pipe join to the cat pipe has a pair of springs to provide coupling between the two.
If the two springs are not tight-enough (M10 bolts) OR if the sealing ring inside has broken/colapsed
this gives excessive movement and causes exactly this noise when pressing clutch or reving etc.
Check your enginemounts too because they might look 100% perfect but when taken appart, there
can be obvious wear and loss of damping due to the rubber going rock-hard over time.

It is the clamp would put money on it. Nothing to do with engine mounts or springs

OK, £10.
The springs are part of the special clamp. Just tighten-up and you're away.
Engine mounts will need checking by the time it's squeaking at that join,
due to increased movement of the engine & gearbox.

there are 2 types of sealing cone washers at the front joint, see if its fitted with the metal wire one , if
it is then change it with a fibre cone. that should cure it.
