first of many questions the car a 52 plate 1.4 starts first time everytime with no smoke or rattles, but there does not appear to be an oil pressure warning light, I have had a quick look for a pressure switch and i cant see one so the question is should it have a warning light? or is it like our 2011 citreon with no light fitted the other thing that concerns me is that the engine managment light is on but as i say the car runs spot on but does have a blowing exhaust which i think is due to a leaking joint which i will cure this weekend anyone have any thoughts

Where abouts do you live? Some of us on here can code read your car for you for a lot cheaper than garages will charge. Once you have the codes read you will know why the engine management light is on. I'm almost sure all 206's have a oil pressure light, should light up on ignition, if not the bulb may have gone. Hope you get it sorted

52 plate should = multiplexed, if you find the light then you have a problem, if its not there its fine.

the light don't come up even when u turn the switch on,if the light come on,then the (STOP) warning light will be flashing,while you hear a peep,so you have a problem in the oil pressure.

Thanks guys what on earth is multiplex? on switching on the ignition we get the engine oil level gauge which goes out as soon as the engine starts but not the usual red light you get on most cars but as i say there are no knocks or rattles i would expect with low oil pressure i removed the pod from around the instrument cluster and there does not appear to be any bulb holders so presume every thing is printed circuits does anybody have a 1.4 with that oil level gauge and a normal red warning light? it might be im worrying about nothing but i would like to know

There are 2 types of electrical systems pre plexed (>October 2001) and multiplexed (plexed, mux) (after October 2001). Mess with the electrics and you stand a good chance of doing some serious damage to the cars BSI which is the brain. Peugeot would gladly relieve you of £600 to replace it. Read the beginners guide and it explains precautions to take when doing any electrical work, which is basically disconnect the battery using the correct method.

The oil level gauge comes up where the mileage is displayed and the oil pressure/oil temperature warning light is the far right (next to the battery warning light)

The multiplexed dash doesn't have bulbs, just surface mounted LED's soldered to the board. Very rare these go.


Edit. Just got back in and the oil pressure light doesn't light up when you turn the ignition on.

Low oil pressure warning light isnt programmed to come on at the pre start warning lamp check on multiplexed 206's.

Totaly correct.

'Been there faffed-around and it works fine even though it doesn't light-up at switch-on.

When testing (short line to ground) it can take up to 10 seconds to make the oil light come-on. Shocked

Or just take the sump plug out and start the engine. Laughing
