any update as i think this is hapning to my car also.
how would i chek if the spring is broken or not in place? i tried to move it by hand to see if there was any play (but the car was not jacked up) but nothing moved.
also my car gets moved by passing cars on motorway to bit wierd.

This is the same problem I'm getting in my girlfriends car.
Has anyone got there's sorted?
The one thing I found that I thought was causing this was the bearing on the off side trailing arm had gone, but on replacing this I still getting the same issue and the replacement of the bearing made no real difference.
Next weekend I'm going to have a good look at all the suspension front and back to see if I can find anything that could be the cause of this issue.

if there is mark on the stud there is little point to replace the bearing as it will just failed in no time

Yeah, that's true but I had already bought the bearings.
This is how bad it looked.

That is rather rusty which suggests water getting past the seals is to blame for the bearing damage.
My axle wasn't perfect on one side but doesn't show any sign of movement. Somewhat shinier than yours.

I had this pulling to one side randomly
It WAS my front bottom arm bush that had pulled out causing it to float around inside.
Replace both sides and then have the vehilce tracked. Should cure it

Ooh very shiny!
Yeah, The seal was ripped pretty bad. I should of checked and re-greased the other side while I was at it.
I'll do it this weekend when adjusting the rear.

The bushes in the wishbones didn't look to bad but I'll be stripping it all down next weekend to have a proper look and check the top mounts/bearing.
I should be lowering it too, come to think of it I might as well replace the wishbones and top mount bearings while I'm there for piece of mind.
