Had some problems with my 206 1.4 whilst idling the other night, basically i came to a roundabout and my car just went quiet i thought hmm strange shes cut out.. She fired back up but struggled revs werent building up seemed like i had to help her by revving abit more.. After the night sleeping with matchsticks :P, i started her up she wasnt turning over at all.. I rang the AA and basically all he done was adjust my throttle cable and sprayed some Carb cleaner in where that unit is where you take the pipe off to reveal the little thing that turns when you press your accelerator.. ( have no clue what its called) but when the day went on my dad was suspicious by saying its over the x100 rev he said it should normally just be abit under, as when i was driving i would push the clutch in and she would rev up even when the accelerator was released seemed like it was taking me for a drive and i wasnt in control of the throttle even at 3rd gear. Today (11/11/12) started perfect purring away at a cold start.

Got a video today of her idling at cold i posted on youtube what do you guys think..

It's called the butterfly or throttle pane.

Adjusting the throttle cable was bad because not only it won't solve anything but probably cause more problems really. I would put it back where it was before by looking at the dust stain on the plastic bit with the circlip on it.

Then check the Idle stepper motor (or ICV) which controls the revs at idle.
