Just bought a 206 1.4 LX....

Drives fine enough, but when decelerating the revs just drop under 1000 and the car cuts out, so looking for some answers...

Sensor in the radiator? or coil? is what the halfords guy said to look for whilst having my new plates put on...

Is this a common problem? something a garage should do or something I could sort myself...

I'm not a mechanic but have tinkered on cars over the last 30 years or so...

My car did this when we changed the gearbox, my mate pushed a plug on top of the box so it clipped in properly which cured it.

Well, according to the little paperwork that came with it the vehicle it did have a new clutch fitted back in June ... perhaps something got knocked loose. I will have a look at it... thanks for the advice!

So the answer to this one was... a filthy dirty & sticking idle control valve!

A couple of hours in the local garage, a diagnostics check and an engine clean; £75.

Needs a new rocker cover, £18+ labour (leaking) and the oil was low... seems to be sorted! Very Happy
